KOGEN 高原

THE MEANING OF KOGEN

“Kogen(高原)” means Japan’s highland regions — places known for fresh air, open landscapes, and world-class ski destinations.
These mountain areas represent nature, escape, and authentic local experiences.

Kogen Connect was created to connect Japan’s highlands with international travelers through trusted local partnerships. Our mission is simple: To be a bridge connecting Japan’s highlands with the world.

Why Choose Us

We have spent multiple winter seasons working and living in Japan’s ski destinations, including Niseko, Kiroro, Rusutsu, Zao, Hakuba, Nozawa Onsen, Shiga Kogen, and Madarao.

After moving to Australia, we realized how difficult it can be for international travelers to book ski resorts in Japan.

While Japan has around 450–500 ski resorts, most overseas visitors only know a few popular destinations, where prices are often very high.

In reality, Japan offers many incredible yet lesser-known ski resorts and unique winter experiences.

As someone from Japan, I am passionate about sharing the true charm of these destinations and helping more people discover them.

How It Works

  • Traditional Japanese room with tatami mats, shoji screens, a low table set with tea cups, and a large window showing a snowy winter landscape with trees and rocks.

Selection and Proposal of Accommodation Facilities

We select and propose hotels, ryokan (traditional inns), and guesthouses across Japan that are suitable for overseas markets.

  • A snowy mountain ski resort with skiers on the slope, a forest of snow-covered trees, cable cars in the sky, and a village at the base of the mountains.

    Introduction to Overseas Partners

We introduce the features and conditions of partnered accommodations to overseas travel agencies.

  • Group of Japanese macaques (snow monkeys) soaking in a hot spring with snowy mountains and trees in the background.

    Proposal and Coordination with Partners

Based on the needs and conditions of both overseas travel agencies and Japanese accommodation providers, we make optimal proposals and carry out necessary coordination.

  • People clinking glasses of beer over a table with Japanese food, including skewers, edamame, and various dishes, inside a cozy restaurant with a snowy window view and Japanese lanterns.

    Ongoing Support

We continue to provide support to ensure smooth and sustained collaboration after partnerships are established.

who We Work With

We act as a bridge between international travel companies and accommodation providers in Japan, supporting the development of valuable and long-term partnerships.

We work closely with overseas travel companies to understand their needs—such as the types of accommodations or experiences they are looking to offer—and connect them with suitable properties in Japan.

At the same time, we support Japanese accommodation providers seeking to expand into international markets by introducing them to relevant overseas partners.

By understanding both sides, we facilitate the right connections and support the development of sustainable partnerships.
